I have always wanted to understand who the writer is referring to when they say "Blackstones" in writing about a family that resided in the Pickrel Lake area of the Sisseton Reservation.
I see 109 in the Elrod Roll as Charles Blackstone or Owancasna a. Na gi Koy ak ewin sister b. sara Goodthunder adopted mother
Is this Charles Goodthunder or Charles Whipple?

Tamara: It is a riddle to me too. I wonder if he changed his name to Blackstone. the records indicate that he was a whipple befre Sarah and andrew Goodthunder adopted him. From the US CensusesI trakced Charles up to 1900, and he was listed Charles whipple Goodthunder. He would have been too young to be on the elrod scout list. Look at this age on the 1886 Mdewakanton census.
